Piccadilly Cocktail
Our friend Worth arrived in the middle of an afternoon shower to while away some time before he met his family for dinner. I selected a 'Piccadilly Cocktail' to mix and share with him. I picked this one since it used Absinthe, a bottle of which had just been delivered (not a random delivery, by the way).
The recipe:
3/4 oz dry vermouth
1 1/2 oz gin
1/4 teaspoon Absinthe
1/4 teaspoon Grenadine
Stir with ice and strain into cocktail glass.
It was not a favorite of any of the three of us. Oh, well... . Wait until tomorrow!

Absinthe...how on earth did you get that? Can't be the real French deal, right? In any case, make sure to keep a little bit to the side as I want to taste it after my stint in the Magic Kingdom!
ReplyDeleteActually, Absinthe was legalized in the '90's. The stuff we have is La Fée Parisienne. It has a green color and tastes very much like Pernod or Ricard (Pastis). It becomes cloudy when water is added and contains high alcohol levels (ours is 68%). The "hallucinogen" in Absinthe was incorrectly identified or misunderstood 80 years ago or so! We'll have some for you.
